Raywell Hall Country Lodge Park is perfectly situated. Near at hand are the delightful villages of Cottingham, Swanland, Kirk Ella and Skidby. The historic market town of Beverley, with its medieval streets and weekly market, is just a short drive away, as are the bright city lights of Hull. The park is also close to a selection of supermarkets and other local amenities.

The Yorkshire Wolds themselves are a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of wide open spaces and opportunities for walking, riding and cycling. The Wolds Way, a 79-mile trail, has its starting point close to the park and there are also golf courses and leisure centres nearby. Enjoy a day out along the East Coast, with its rugged coastline, picturesque seaside villages, sailing and surfing.

The park benefits from easy access to a range of transport links, including the national road and rail networks, the Humber Bridge and a ferry port with regular sailings to Europe. There are also three airports within an hour's drive - Humberside International Airport, Leeds/Bradford International Airport and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.

Beverley

Beverley is the administrative centre of the East Riding of Yorkshire, a bustling market town with a spectacular Minster it is a town that is best explored on foot. Tucked away down narrow cobbled and medieval streets is a host of antique shops, quaint boutiques, craft shops and tea rooms - perfect for an afternoon's amble. Every Saturday, Saturday market transforms Beverley into a colourful hive of activity selling everything from local farmer's produce to clothes and jewellery whilst Beverley's historic pubs can be found on every street corner. The most famous of which is the darkly gas lit White Horse on Hengate, which is fondly referred to as Nellie's by locals, after the former landlady. Beverley also has an eclectic mix of restaurants from Thai to Turkish to more traditional British fare it has a selection of bars, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes.

Beverley boasts beautiful architecture from Georgian townhouses to the finest ecclesiastical architecture in Europe, the most famous of which is the magnificent 13th century Gothic Minster which gloriously towers over the town. The Minster features the world's largest collection of stone carvings and 700-year old Percy Tomb - a masterpiece of European modern art. Equally as spectacular is St Mary's Church, situated at the opposite end of town to the Minster, if you look carefully you will see the carved rabbit which was Lewis Carroll's inspiration for the March hare in Alice in Wonderland.

Beverley is also home to a historic racecourse, internationally recognised music festival, comedy festival and an art gallery which holds the permanent collection of Frederick Elwell paintings - cultural activities to appeal to all ages.

Golfing from Raywell

Raywell Hall Country Lodges are perfectly situated close to three local golf courses, providing a variety of courses, driving ranges and facilities for golfers of all abilities. Rather than offering residents one course Raywell Country Lodges has agreements with all three courses giving them the luxury to choose where they want to play.

Hessle Golf Club

Situated next to the Raywell estate, the historic Hessle Golf Club is a testing parkland par 72 course set among a variety of trees in a peaceful location surrounded by open countryside. The second hole has even been named the Raywell dip, as the land falls from Raywell down past the tee and towards the green.

Cottingham Golf Club

A short 10 minute drive from Raywell is Cottingham Golf Course. Opened in 1994 the 18 hole par 72 course is enhanced by landscaping and many man made water features presenting a fair challenge to golfers of all levels. There is also a 27 bay driving range and PGA tuition is available. The modern spacious clubhouse has a balcony that overlooks the 1st tee whilst the park also houses additional spa facilities including a gym, 20m pool, sauna/steam/spa.

Beverley & East Riding Golf Club

In nearby Beverley, the Beverley and East Riding Golf Club offers 18 unique holes of varying difficulty on the historic pasture land of Beverley Westwood.

Founded in 1889, the Westwood course is arguably the oldest in Yorkshire. It boasts an enviable mix of golfing landscape - parkland, heathland and links - taking advantage of the ups and downs of the rolling fairways and magnificent views of the market town of Beverley and its spectacular Minster.

Raywell Hall Country Lodges are situated in the Yorkshire Wolds at the foot of The Yorkshire Wolds Way, the quietest National Trail, running for 79 miles from Hessle, near the Humber Bridge across the Yorkshire Wolds to Filey on the East Coast.

For nearly 80 miles the Yorkshire Wolds Way takes walkers and cyclists through some of the most tranquil and gentle countryside in England, offering views on a clear day that stretch for miles. Beginning at the Humber Estuary beneath the Humber Bridge the trail ends up in the coastal town of Filey, having passed through rolling terrain and woodlands.

A short drive from Raywell Hall is Cottingham a modern village which features a bustling high street which boasts both a Somerfield and Sainsbury's alongside independent shops, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.

A thriving village, which has a population of 18,000, Cottingham also has amenities such as pharmacies, a Medical centre and a dentists practice should any of these services be required during your stay at Raywell Hall Country Lodges.

Cottingham also has a train station that offers a direct and regular service to Beverley and Hull, trains are also available to Scarborough and Bridlington, whilst there is also a regular bus network from the village.

Local Shopping

Within five minutes of Raywell Hall Country Lodges is a shopping centre which features a large Waitrose whilst further supermarkets and shops both independent and high-street can be found in Cottingham and Beverley. Saturday is market day in Beverley, offering shoppers a host of fresh farmer's produce and locally baked items.

Kingston-upon-Hull also offers a large selection of city centre shopping and boasts The Princes Quay shopping centre, a large shopping centre that overlooks Hull Marina. Further a-field the cities of York, Leeds and Lincoln offer unrivalled shopping opportunities, for all retail therapy needs.
