August 1Humber Street Sesh, Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1TU - This festival on Hull’s iconic Marina attracts more than 40,000 people, as well as highlighting work by local bands, singers, artists, comedians and photographers. Wristbands cost £5 in advance, available from various locations - Chinese Laundry, Beasley’s, Barclays Bank in Hull, Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley – or £8 on the day. Runs throughout the day.

August 1Yorkshire Day - East Riding Theatre, Lord Roberts Road, Beverley, HU17 9BE – 10am-6pm - Yorkshire day promotes the rich history of the English county of Yorkshire, celebrating all things to do with Yorkshire from food and beer to verse and song. Go along to this free event from 10am to revel in storytelling, poetry, art demonstrations, verse and song and lashings of Yorkshire fayre.

August 2Skyride local – Hull city centre, HU1 3NA - New to cycling or looking to improve your fitness? The local Skyrides are a great way to do this! Join in on group rides in a variety of locations across the city before the main event on August 16.

August 2 - Humber Bridge Farmers Market – Humber Bridge viewing area car park, Ferriby Road, Hessle, HU13 0AA – 10am-1pm. Held on the first Sunday of every month, the market offers the best seasonal, regional produce, in addition to a dedicated section for arts and crafts, with dozens of stalls and thousands of visitors.

August 5-9 - Toads Revisited - Hull city centre, HU1 3NA – This event celebrates 5 years since the Larkin25 commemoration of the life and work of the poet, novelist, librarian and jazz critic, Philip Larkin, and marks the 30th Anniversary of his death. August 5-9Planet Circus - West Park, Anlaby Road, Hull, HU3 6HU – The show with the wow factor, featuring amazing star acts in a jam packed, exciting new fun show for all the family. Visit for more information.

August 7-8Yum Food Festival - Hull city centre, HU1 3NA – 1pm-6pm - Two days of tasty street food, culinary talent, fresh local produce and a bustling market of world flavours. This is Hull city centre’s celebration of food and drink. From traditional dishes, to a touch of spice – stay local and taste the world. Visit for further details.

August 8-9Powerboat Racing – River Humber, with a backdrop of Hull Marina and the Humber Bridge along the route – The Grand Prix of the Sea, featuring powerboats and jet skis, is back on the Humber for the fifth season. Organised by P1, the world’s largest marine motorsport brand, Hull is the stage for the third round of the SuperStock and AquaX national championships.

August 8-9Driffield Steam and Vintage Rally – Driffield, YO25 9DN - Craft hall, model exhibition, extensive market and a Saturday Road Run through Driffield at 6pm. Gates open at 10am and admission costs £10 for adults, £8 for concessions, £4 for unaccompanied children and free for accompanied children. Visit for more information.

August 8-11Royal Yacht Club Annual Regatta – Bridlington Harbour, South Cliff Road, Bridlington, YO15 3AN - Yacht racing will take place from Bridlington Harbour for a week’s racing in Bridlington Bay. Each day starts with the fleet review in the presence of the Lord Mayor, followed by the ladies and cadet races, with the first fleet race starting on Sunday at 11.30am. The regatta will mix some hot racing with its legendry social programme, culminating with a grand prize giving. Various times through the week - broad schedule 10am -7pm. Free to spectate.

August 20-23Tribfest – Sledmere House, Main Street, Sledmere, YO25 3XG - Tribfest is the summer’s biggest tribute band music festival in East Yorkshire. Now in its 9th year, the idea of Tribfest is to enable families to enjoy an affordable, fantastic, fun weekend away, meeting fellow festival friends old and new, while listening to some great live music, performed on a stage of high quality with a big screen, top lighting and sound to accompany this. Every SaturdayBeverley Market – Saturday Market, Beverley, HU17 8BB – 9am-4pm – This popular and historic Saturday market attracts many visitors. With around 100 stalls, you can browse the many arts and crafts, as well as pick up some top quality local produce. Visit for further details.

August 1-31MW Road Train Tours – Hull city centre, HU1 3NA – The land train is operated and owned by Mally Welburn, a former fisherman and tour guide on the Arctic Corsair. Together with his dedicated team, he runs the train on 45 minute tours around the city centre and Old Town from Wednesday to Sunday and all week during school holidays. It operates at regular times throughout the day. Prices vary from £1.50 to £2.
